What an EB-1 Visa Lawyer in Texas Wants You to Know

EB-1 Visa Lawyer

Have you been considering applying for an EB-1 visa? Do you feel like you qualify but aren’t entirely sure? The EB-1 visa is coveted for good reason. The good news is that it is entirely possible to get one. As an EB-1 visa lawyer in Texas, we’ve been able to help many immigrants with the EB-1. That said, we’ve been able to help folks to immigrate with many others, too. There are some things to keep in mind about the EB-1.

It’s Tough to Get, But It’s Worth It

The advantages of the EB-1 are many. Yes, it’s very difficult to get even for highly-qualified applicants. But, if you get it, you’ll be able to do so much in terms of immigration. You’ll be able to pursue citizenship in the US and you’ll be able to apply for dependents visas for your spouses or unmarried children. You can live and work in America, but you can also travel in and out of America as you please, too. No employer will have to sponsor you, as you can self-sponsor. The EB-1 visa is great indeed.

Even If You’re Qualified, the Process Can Be Lengthy

You may have already looked at USCIS’s reporting on the most current EB-1 processing times. If so, then you know that, on average, the processing time for this visa is, at best, eight months. That can be a long time. On top of that, remember, even after it’s been approved, for the most part, the government takes, on average, about half a year to issue you permanent residence. Now, while that’s “average time” it is, in many ways, “optimal time.” There can potentially be delays as well.

There Are EB-1 Subcategories

There’s more than one kind of EB-1. Perhaps the most commonly-known kind of EB-1 is the EB-1A for those foreign nationals who have an “extraordinary ability.” Specifically, these nationals have an extraordinary abilities in art, science, education, business, and, of course, TV or movies. That said, the EB-1B is pretty great, too, as it’s for professors and researchers who are genuinely outstanding. You need to be able to show international recognition and have at least three years of experience in both teaching and researching.
