I Can Work if I Have TPS, Right?
Absolutely. Indeed, this is one of the benefits of TPS. To put it simply, you can work if you have been granted TPS here in the United States. Now, to make sure that you’re eligible for this, you have to submit Form I-765 to request employment authorization, either after you apply for TPS or at the same time. When I Apply for TPS, Is That “Seeking Asylum?”
No, it really isn’t. It’s natural that some make that connection, but they are by no means synonymous. To be clear, the eligibility for TPS is actually more selective, it’s more rare. One significant difference, however, is in the eventual outcome: you can seek permanent residency if you are granted asylum, whereas TPS doesn’t have that same end goal
