Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application
The DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application Form, is intended for temporary travel to the United States and for K visas. Form DS-160 is submitted electronically to the Department of State through the Internet. Once the form is submitted, consular officials review the application, interview the applicant, and then determine if the applicant is eligible for a nonimmigrant visa. Below you will find a succinct explanation of the DS-160 process.
1. Submit Form DS-160 online to the Department of State. Print and keep the DS-160 barcode page for your own records. Include your passport, travel itinerary, dates of your last five trips to the United States, and a resumé or curriculum vitae. Additional information may be needed depending on the intended purpose of travel.
2. Schedule a visa interview appointment. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate does not do this for you; applicants must do it themselves.
3. Be sure to pay the visa application-processing fee.
